THE GOLDEN RULE is, don't be tempted to bid higher than the maximum you decided before the car went into the ring. There will always be another car to bid on, if not at the same sale then on another day. Under no circumstances bid on a car which you haven't thoroughly checked out, just because it looks cheap. This impulsive behavior will negate all your pre-sale efforts and more likely than not you'll throw good money at a heap of trouble.
